L\u00edneas de investigaci\u00f3n: Variaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica y su efecto en fenotipos de inter\u00e9s cl\u00ednico.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intereses<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mi inter\u00e9s primario de investigaci\u00f3n es la utilizaci\u00f3n de modelos animales para entender el papel de la variaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica en la modulaci\u00f3n de fenotipos, principalmente del sistema cardiovascular.\u00a0En el pasado, enfoqu\u00e9 mis estudios en la biolog\u00eda del desarrollo de cardiopat\u00edas cong\u00e9nitas en modelos murinos para mutaciones en genes que codifican para elementos de la v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de TGF\u03b2 y que causan enfermedades mendelianas como S\u00edndrome Loeys-Dietz (LDS), entre otros. La identificaci\u00f3n de genes que interact\u00faen con esta v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n entrega nuevas posibilidades de manejo terap\u00e9utico que potencialmente podr\u00edan ser utilizados en pacientes con estas enfermedades.\u00a0Mis intereses tambi\u00e9n incluyen la utilizaci\u00f3n de t\u00e9cnicas de manipulaci\u00f3n del genoma (genome engineering) tanto en l\u00edneas celulares como para la generaci\u00f3n de modelos animales que reflejen variaciones gen\u00e9ticas con posible efecto modificador de fenotipos de inter\u00e9s, de manera de poder entender su efecto en el contexto \u201cnativo\u201d del genoma del hu\u00e9sped.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>My main research interest is to understand the role of Genetic variation in the modulation of phenotypes, mainly of the cardiovascular system, using animal models.\u00a0In the past, I focused on studying the biology of congenital heart defects in murine models of mutations in genes that code for key elements of the TGF\u03b2 pathway and that cause mendelian disorders such as Loeys-Dietz Syndrome (LDS), among others.
