Eugenia Riveros\" width=\"250\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/medicina.udd.cl\/icim\/files\/2015\/09\/M.-Eugenia-Riveros-300x263.jpg 300w, https:\/\/medicina.udd.cl\/icim\/files\/2015\/09\/M.-Eugenia-Riveros-768x674.jpg 768w, https:\/\/medicina.udd.cl\/icim\/files\/2015\/09\/M.-Eugenia-Riveros-1024x899.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>Mar\u00eda Eugenia Riveros, investigadora del Centro de Fisiolog\u00eda Celular e Integrativa de la Facultad de Medicina CAS-UDD, particip\u00f3 en el 21\u00b0 Congreso Bianual de la International Society for Developmental Neuroscience, instancia en la que recibi\u00f3 el premio al mejor p\u00f3ster del encuentro.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">En la ocasi\u00f3n, present\u00f3 su estudio orientado a comprobar que f\u00e1rmacos, dise\u00f1ados para apuntar al sistema histamin\u00e9rgico, podr\u00edan mejorar ciertos s\u00edntomas asociados a diversos trastornos siqui\u00e1tricos, entre ellos la depresi\u00f3n. Esto, pues la investigadora ha comprobado a lo largo de su carrera que la histamina es un neurotransmisor que tiene un importante rol en la motivaci\u00f3n, ya sea en su disminuci\u00f3n o aumento. \u201cA menos histamina, hay falta de motivaci\u00f3n y viceversa\u201d, explica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Esta etapa del proyecto ya finaliz\u00f3. Sin embargo, y junto a los investigadores Mauricio Retamal y Vania Figueroa del Centro de Fisiolog\u00eda Celular e Integrativa, han continuado con esta l\u00ednea de estudio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Actualmente, est\u00e1n trabajando en un modelo que busca determinar que, en el trastorno bipolar, \u201cpodr\u00eda haber un ciclo del sistema histamin\u00e9rgico donde hay un exceso de energ\u00eda, asociado a una gran cantidad de histamina que, posteriormente, tiene un efecto rebote, provocando un estado depresivo\u201d, cuenta Mar\u00eda Eugenia Riveros.
