Intereses

Dirijo el Programa de Estudios Sociales en Salud. Me interesa investigar sobre procesos sociales que impactan en salud poblacional, en especial desde un enfoque amplio de diversidad sociocultural y con perspectiva global. Trabajo desde 2000 en investigación sobre salud de grupos sociales vulnerables y desde 2008 en salud de migrantes internacionales en Chile e Inglaterra. Realizo docencia de pre y postgrado, extensión, abogacía política y trabajo con la comunidad en estas temáticas. Asesoro a servicios de salud, hospitales y centros de atención primaria en el diseño, implementación y evaluación de prestaciones de salud con pertinencia para grupos sociales vulnerables y diversos culturalmente.

 

Interests

I direct the Social Studies in Health Research Program. I am interested in investigating social processes that impact on population health, especially from a broad perspective of socio-cultural diversity and globalization. Since 2000, I conduct research on health issues among vulnerable social groups, and since 2008 on health of international migrants in Chile and England. I carry out undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, political advocacy and work with the community on these issues. I advise health services, hospitals and primary health care centers in the design, implementation and evaluation of health technologies that are relevant to vulnerable and culturally diverse social groups.
